Owing to increasing other commitments the present Administrator will be accepting a new role with the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. IPAF is therefore seeking a responsible, capable person to provide the necessary routine administrative support for the Prize. It is anticipated that for an initial period this will involve working alongside the present Administrator.
Based in or around London, and operating in close collaboration with the Trustees, particularly through the Chair & the Company Secretary, the duties of the Administrator will include:
- Day to day management, organisation and co-ordination of the Prize and IPAF’s other activities
- Basic book-keeping
- Report preparation for grant administration purposes
- Liaising with judges, authors, sponsors, publishers, translators and PR advisers
The role will involve an average of about 2 days per week, but will vary in activity according to the Prize cycle. It would suit an individual seeking to build or consolidate a portfolio as a self-employed provider of professional administrative services. The successful candidate must:
- Be fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English (fluency in a third language desirable)
- Be available for international travel
- Be flexible and adaptable in working patterns
and should:
- Have a working knowledge of the book trade especially in relation to Arabic literary publishing and the wider reach of Arabic novels through translation
- Have a strong link to or engagement with wider Arabic culture
The fee payable will be in the region of £20,000 per annum based on the average overall time commitment of 2 days per week.
Applications in English to include a CV, a covering letter and the names of two referees who are not IPAF trustees should be sent to Katy MacMillan-Scott at Colman Getty (28 Windmill Street, London W1T 2JJ) by 5.30 pm BST on Friday 23rd July 2010 - katy@colmangetty.co.uk .
We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those invited for an interview will be contacted.
