Celebrating the 2017 shortlist in Abu Dhabi

To celebrate the six authors and novels that have been shortlisted for the 2017 International Prize for Arabic Fiction, there is a series of events being hosted in Abu Dhabi next week.
 

Shortlisted authors Mohammed Hasan Alwan, Najwa Binshatwan, Ismail Fahd Ismail, Elias Khoury, Mohammed Abdel Nabi and Saad Mohammed Rahim, will discuss their works with Salha Obaid at a Writers’ Union Event at the National Theatre, Abu Dhabi at 7.30pm, Sunday 23 April.
 

On Monday 24 April at 6pm, NYU Abu Dhabi will host a discussion with the authors, which will be moderated by Bilal Orfali, Associate Professor of Arabic Studies at the American University of Beirut. Registration for this event can made online here.
 

Following the announcement of the winning novel on the evening of Tuesday 25 April, the winning author and the other five shortlisted authors will take part in events on the opening day of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, Wednesday 26 April. From 1–5pm, in association with Al Multaqa Book Club, the authors will celebrate their IPAF success in turn (stand 12E52).
 

The authors will then move onto the Sea of Culture Foundation Stand for a Salon event from 7-9.30pm, hosted under the patronage of Sheikha Sheikha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan.
